Dr. Van Cleve believes our pets are our family, and they deserve to pass peacefully and comfortably, surrounded by those they love at home.

Over the years as a veterinarian working in traditional clinic settings, many owners would ask her come to their home when the time came to say goodbye to their beloved pets.  She realized that one of the greatest gifts she can offer to her patients and their families is to give them those peaceful moments together in their own comfortable and familiar environment.  Families could focus on saying goodbye and the patients were far less stressed.

This is what inspired her to dedicate herself to helping pets make a more gentle transition. She understands that her clients and her patients need warmth, compassion and understanding at this difficult time, and feels that the home environment is the best setting for a peaceful passing. Although it is always very emotional, she feels blessed and honored to be able to provide such a valuable and important service for our pets in Tucson.

Dr. Van Cleve knew from a very young age that she wanted to be a veterinarian, and in 1996 she realized her dream when she earned her veterinary degree from the University of Illinois College of Veterinary Medicine.  She practiced in the Chicago area and taught at Mississippi State College of Veterinary Medicine before making Tucson her home in 2004.  She has been in general practice in the Tucson area ever since.

Dr. Van Cleve is Fear Free™ Certified and a member of the Association of Pet Loss and Bereavement and the International Association for Animal Hospice and Palliative Care.  She and her husband share their home with their rescue dogs Joey and Sarah and their cat Josie. In their free time, they enjoy live music, movies, traveling and hiking.

Maggie & Molly

We lost our two 15 year old dogs, Maggie and Molly, within 3 months of each other. Dr. Van Cleve was so thoughtful and caring, and helped us realize it was the time for compassion.

Gracie

Our family has known Dr. Van Cleve for 17 years, and watching her interact with our pets over the years, I can say she truly adores animals. When we realized our dog Gracie needed to be put to sleep, she was there for us and was very calming, as we said goodbye to our friend. She is truly a blessing in our lives.

Sasha

Years ago I promised our cat Sasha that she would never have to suffer pain. Dr. Van Cleve made sure that promise was honored. I will forever be grateful that she was there for us. Her compassion, kindness and support in my decision were immeasurable.
