What to expect from Pawprints Veterinary Housecall

Making the right decision for your pet can be one of the most difficult decisions you will ever be faced with in your pet’s lifetime. Dr. Van Cleve is here to help guide you and to answer all of your questions during this difficult time.
Special attention is paid to your pet’s specific needs, always keeping their comfort in mind. The goal is to ensure a peaceful, painless experience for your pet.

Once your pet has passed, you’ll have a few options to choose from for their aftercare. You may choose to handle the aftercare yourself, or we can transport your pet to our trusted partner for cremation.

Many pet owners choose to keep a memento or keepsake to remember their pet by, while others would like to keep the ashes or have their pet buried. Please take a look at the pet cremation and aftercare options below to see which will fit your needs best.

Phone consultation is always provided at no charge.

In home quality of life assessment

Information will be gathered through asking specific questions and physical examination and observation. If you have any recent records from your regular veterinarian, those are very helpful and will be reviewed as well.

Aftercare options

Euthanasia with individual cremation

Your pet will be cremated individually, and their ashes will be personally returned to you in a beautiful wood urn.

It can take up to two weeks for the ashes to be returned to you. Please keep in mind that it is very important that you provide all your contact information to ensure the proper return of your pet’s ashes.

Euthanasia with communal cremation

A Communal Cremation means that your pet will be cremated along with other pets and that the ashes will not be returned to you.

Your pet’s remains will be handled with the same respect and care as in the private cremation and you may also choose to have a complimentary paw print impression as a remembrance.

Euthanasia only

The same gentle and humane euthanasia procedure will be performed, but you may choose to make the aftercare arrangements which could include home burial or transport to an aftercare facility of your choice.

If you need more information, Pawprints Veterinary Housecall can provide you with the contact information for several trustworthy places. A complimentary paw print impression can also be made as a remembrance if you wish.

Cremation only

If your pet has passed away at home, you may call to arrange for Pawprints to transport them to our trusted aftercare partner for cremation. You may choose the private cremation option or communal cremation. A complimentary paw print impression can be made as a remembrance if you wish.

* If you have already chosen an independent aftercare provider, please mention this during the consultation. Pawprints Veterinary Housecall is pleased to work with all aftercare providers.
